The firm’s fees and terms of engagement are determined according to the nature and complexity of each matter, the work required and, particularly in international cases, the procedures to be carried out in France. Financial terms are agreed with the client before work begins and are set out in a written fee agreement.
Fees Tailored to Each Matter
Depending on the nature of the engagement, fees may be calculated on an hourly basis or agreed as a fixed fee for specified services. Where appropriate and subject to the rules governing the French legal profession, an additional success fee may also be agreed.
Costs and Disbursements
Certain matters may require the involvement of third parties or give rise to costs separate from the firm’s legal fees, such as bailiff or enforcement officer fees, translation costs, expert fees, court costs or other disbursements. Where such costs can reasonably be anticipated, the client is informed so that their potential impact on the overall cost of the proceedings can be considered.
Initial Contact
To allow for an initial assessment of your request, you may provide the firm with a brief description of your situation, the countries involved, the result you are seeking and, where applicable, the nature of the principal court decisions or documents in your possession. The firm can then determine whether the matter falls within its area of practice and explain the proposed terms for reviewing or handling it.
International Matters
For clients residing outside France, communications can be conducted remotely in English or French. The terms of engagement take into account the cross-border nature of the matter, the procedures to be carried out in France and any involvement of external professionals or foreign counsel that may be required.
Would You Like to Discuss a Potential Engagement?
Briefly describe your situation and provide the main information relating to your matter. If the firm is able to assist you, it can then explain the proposed scope of work and the applicable fee arrangements.
